The city of Sunnyside needed a solution for coating the exterior of a water tank that sat literally 10 feet from residential homes. Normally, a project like this would require containment, but with Tnemec's high performance dry-fall systems, we were able to save the city close to $75,000 in containment costs.
Tnemec Series 118 is a waterbased mastic dry-fall that is designed to provide an impermeable barrier to protect the substrate from corrosion. Combined with Tnemec Series 1029, a self cross linking high performance finish coat the system can be expected to last 15-20 years.
Typical epoxy/urethane overcoat systems - specified "thin to win" - only provide 7-10 years of protection, but are also high in VOC's and can damage surrounding structures if not protected from splatter or overspray.
In short, Tnemec Company has over 2000 tanks nationally that are coated with Series 118 and various topcoats. This system is replacing the standard overcoat's of the past and with twice the expected longevity. Don't live in the past, call HPC and we can help verify if you water tank is a good candidate for Series 118.
