Water Reservoir #2 in Moses Lake was last coated in 1988 with an aluminum flake filled alkyd and is located in a very congested and busy residential neighborhood.  After budgetary analysis, it was determined that full containment, blast and coating operations would be over the cities budget, so the owners were looking for a solution that would still provide a long term solution.

The City Engineer reached out to Rick Gilbreath with TNW, Inc., to provide a full site analysis.  After adhesion and compatibility testing, Rick determined a Tnemec overcoat was a viable option.

Tnemec Series 135, Chembuild primer and Tnemec Series 1095 urethane was specified as a solution that would provide 15-20 years additional service before a full blast and recoat was necessary.

All coatings were roller applied, allowing for the application to take place in a full traffic and busy neighborhood.  No roads were closed, nor was there any risk of overspray.  The city saved $100K in containment and were able to put resources to other projects while providing superior corrosion protection for another important asset.
