Completed in 2021, coating the Valencia Standpipe ground storage water tank proved more difficult than usual. Smyth Industries had to contend with a very tight construction schedule on an asset that could not be out of service for long. The tank sits on the main supply line for the City of Tucson, so coordinating the coating application was critical. To make it more difficult, there were unusually cold temperatures and even snow in Tucson, AZ!

Smyth Industries had to carefully plan the application of the Tnemec Series 94 H₂O Hydro-Zinc and Series 22 Epoxoline interior coating system. 

Series 94 H₂O was also applied to the exterior of the tank as it provides outstanding long-term corrosion protection and offers rapid recoat ability on surfaces down to 35^oF. The exterior topcoat is Series 1075 Endura-Shield II, a high performance aliphatic acrylic polyurethane coating.
